We’d noticed the Joyce book on the table, we’d joined them in the W.B. Yeats suite, their guests were sipping on cocktails named after Heaney and Tennessee Williams, and their tables featured the names of classic literary couples . But it was the joy on their faces when two Harry Potter wands were produced that showed us where Charlene and Sam’s literary allegiances really lie.

Charlene and Sam aren’t from Dublin - they live in Scotland - but you couldn’t find two people better at giving you food and culture recommendations in the City they love. Their fondness for Dublin meant it could be the only choice for their intimate city wedding.

After a beautiful humanist ceremony in Dublin City Hall (we can’t think of many better ceremony venues) they headed, like most Dubliners do on a Friday evening, to the pub. Going to O’Donohues bar in Dublin feels like stepping back to a time where the air was filled with smoke and music. It’s a wonderful place. And The Cliff townhouse is the perfect spot for a Dublin wedding, allowing you to nip out quickly to catch the sunset over St. Stephen’s green.
