When talking to Stef about her wedding plans, she never mentioned having ideas but rather ‘visions.’ These often included intangible thoughts and feelings but also very clear plans of what would happen. She probably noticed our jaws dropping when she said she was going to have the rings delivered to her by a hawk during the ceremony. Was this perhaps a tradition in her native Netherlands that we didn’t know about?
But within 10 minutes we found ourselves caught up in this vision and throwing out our own ideas. So, when we suggested they do some crowd surfing after the ceremony, they added it to their grand plan without hesitation.
We’ve noticed over the years that plans are often left behind as the wedding day unfolds. All those things that seemed straight forward or romantic on paper are abandoned. This did not happen at Stef and Jack’s wedding. We had hawks and eagles, row boats, crowd surfing, Dutch pancakes, barefoot cèilidhs and so much more.
Having gotten caught up in this whirlwind of a day in Finnebrogue woods, we have to conclude that we love Stef’s vision. She and Jack had the creativity and energy to serve up a unique, action-packed day full of love and craic that was a true reflection of who they are.
