How lucky are we? This year we had not one but two couples called Stephen and Beth, and both weddings were an absolutely class. Our second Beth and Stephen of the year brought us a little closer to home at the brilliant Larchfield Estate just outside Lisburn.

Before the wedding they told us we had photographed their friend Sophia’s celebration in Donegal. They said they loved their photos and the thing they liked most was that neither of them remembered seeing us on the day. It might sound like an insult, but for wedding photographers it is one of the best things you can hear. It means that you did a great job but went unnoticed.

From the start this wedding had one clear theme. Fun. Beth giggled her way through the entire day, always in the centre of the action, always making everyone else laugh. Whatever the exact opposite of a bridezilla is, that is Beth. Stephen matched her energy perfectly and they were surrounded by an unreal bridal party who seemed to break into dancing any time a camera even glanced in their direction.

Having both the ceremony and reception at Larchfield Estate made everything feel calm and connected. There is something special about keeping a wedding in one place. People settle in more quickly and the nerves disappear because there is no rushing between locations. Larchfield has that ideal mix of beautiful outdoor spots, warm indoor spaces and quiet corners where couples can catch their breath. It always photographs beautifully and this day was no exception.
