There are certain emails that land in our inbox that instantly make our day. One of them is the classic line that says something along the lines of prep, garden ceremony and reception all at Larchfield Estate. It is hard to think of a more complete wedding venue. The sunken garden is one of the most beautiful ceremony spaces in Northern Ireland and having everything in one place keeps the day calm from start to finish. Even when the weather misbehaves, Larchfield has a way of keeping the whole experience stress free.
Susie and Aaron were lucky. The forecast looked questionable for most of the week and the dark clouds rolling in kept us guessing, but the rain stopped just long enough for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in the garden. There's nothing like the sights, sounds and smells of an outdoor wedding.
One of the perks of photographing at Larchfield Estate is the huge variety of locations. There are woodland paths, the walled garden, the courtyard, the stables and of course the lake. With showers threatening, speed was important. Thankfully Susie and Aaron had hired a beautiful vintage car that allowed us to move around the estate quickly. What you don't see in the photos is us sprinting beside the moving car like secret service agents trying to keep up with a presidential motorcade. There is a reason those behind the scenes moments never make the final gallery.
Larchfield Estate really shines for couples who want a relaxed wedding with amazing outdoor spaces. Even though we didn't need it, Susie and Aaron’s wedding reminded us once again why it is one of our favourite venues to photograph in Northern Ireland.
