It’s always nice when weddings take us a little closer to home. While we live in Belfast, Tyrone will always be home. Amy and Lee got married in Carrickmore, a small town not far from Omagh. Deci, being a Nirvana fan, likes to remind everyone that Carrickmore is where Kurt Cobain’s great-great-grandparents came from. That’s a pretty decent claim to fame.
After the ceremony, it was over to Castle Leslie for the reception. A place with plenty of history - though, as far as we know, no obvious ties to 90s grunge icons. What it does have is serious character, and it was the perfect setting for a day that somehow managed to be both effortlessly stylish and totally laid-back. Amy and Lee looked unreal and the whole day had that easy, natural flow that makes for the best kind of wedding.
One of the best things about this wedding was how much their friends were at the heart of it all. We made sure to grab a million shots of them all - partly because they were a class bunch, partly because they gave us so much to work with. Special shoutout to Paddy, the groomsman, who took it upon himself to give wedding photography a go and swiped one of Brideen’s cameras during the dancing. Out of the 50 or so shots he rattled off, at least three were in focus - not a bad strike rate for someone who’d possibly had a few pints.
This was just one of those weddings where everything clicked. Great people, great atmosphere, a proper home-from-home kind of day.
