Erin and Oisin described themselves as really, really chilled out people, but if anything they didn't use enough 'really's to adequately describe how laid back they are. Seriously, if we ever have to face a stressful situation in the future, we really want Erin at our side to take the edge off. Normally we try to be calm to help our couples relax, this time it almost felt like the reverse was happening.
"How are you getting to the Church, Erin."
"Oh, I think I'll just jump in with someone."
And that's what she did. Love it.
Although they live in the States, Oisin has strong Irish roots, so choosing Ireland for their destination wedding just made sense. Oisin spent his childhood summers here visiting cousins, soaking up the weather. Soaking being the key word here, so he definitely wasn’t expecting the skin-melting sunshine that showed up for their wedding day.
Solis Lough Eske Castle in Donegal is pretty much perfect for a destination wedding, with everything you need in one place. But with that being said, we couldn't resist a detour on the way back from the Church to capture a bit of Donegal's rugged beauty. We love that you don't have to go far in Donegal to find breathtaking beauty.
We stopped at an old rail bridge, once used by so many people leaving Ireland for good, heading for new lives in America. Photographing Erin and Oisin there felt quietly significant: bringing a story full circle, back to the landscape Oisin's family came from.It felt poignant to take photos on the old rail bridge that in the past would've taken so many people on their final journey across the county before emigrating to America.
