Peter doesn't have a shiny trophy on his mantelpiece saying 'Best Best Man 2024.' He didn't get a glitzy award ceremony honouring his services to Eliza and David at their wedding last October. But rest assured, that trophy exists metaphorically! We had so much fun at that wedding that we were absolutely delighted when Catherine and Peter got in touch this year and asked if we'd photograph their wedding.

Catherine and Peter made the trip from Tyrone to the brilliant Clonabreany House in Meath for their wedding. We didn’t get the sunshine we hoped for but we did get all the craic we were expecting. To make the most of the day (and the dry spells), they opted for a first look and did portraits and bridal party photos before the ceremony. Turns out this was a smart move as the rain hit not long after they walked down the aisle.

We have to give a shout out to both Tom Blake House in Kells and Fennor Lodge in Meath. We've seen a lot of morning prep accommodation over 15 years of wedding photography, and honestly, both of these are up there with the very best. They went above and beyond to make sure everyone had the best relaxing morning possible.

One of our favourite parts of the day was the music. They didn't just walk down the aisle, they danced down it, with trad tunes played by family and friends. This pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day, with the class Cool Hand String Band keeping the party going from drinks reception until the end.

It was David's turn to step up as best man this time around, returning the favour after Pete’s performance at his own wedding last year. And while the bar was set high, David pretty much aced it. These two are more like brothers than friends, and we love having the craic with them.

It wasn’t just the best man putting in a shift either. The whole bridal party was on-the-ball from the start, making sure Catherine and Peter had the best day possible. Just like last year, no actual trophies were handed out, but if we had them, the whole squad of them would be walking away with one.

At one stage, their friend Tiernan (another one of our past grooms), pointed out to us that nearly all of this group of friends are now married. I think we're going to have to find an excuse to get them all together again. Any ideas?
